Beton Brut 05

About the event

Béton brut (French pronunciation: [betɔ̃ bʁyt]) is architectural concrete that is left unfinished after being cast, displaying the patterns and seams imprinted on it by the formwork.[1] Béton brut is not a material itself, but rather a way of using concrete. The term comes from French and means “raw concrete”.

A refusal. A rupture. A brutalist manifesto in sound. Beton Brut weaponises industrial noise and bass to obliterate the veneer of corporate control. This isn’t entertainment; it’s insurgency—an anti-spectacle where every beat is an act of defiance, every distortion a crack in the edifice.
Forget beauty. Forget comfort. This is raw power in its purest form, a call to dismantle the system from within.

Beton Brut returns for its 5th gathering at Chelmsford’s most exciting (and bass fuelled) venue, Mettle Works, in Chelmsford. Bada Duüm, Broken Atoms, Hell Feeder and Kontort bring twisted electronic beats and brutal bass lines for the next instalment of Beton Brut. Visual projections on the night are courtesy of the artists and their individual interest in visual experimentation.

Hell Feeder bring dark atmospheric tracks crossing between musical worlds with DnB, Techno, Trip Hop and dystopian Sci fi soundtracks providing influences that are fused into a cathartic reaction to the West’s broken sense of modernity.

Broken Atoms brings next level production with his bass glitch IDM for the night. Dark rhythms weave in and out of atmospheric keys and snarling bass lines. Expect a cerebral raw energy as Broken Atoms brings his unique musical vibe to the venue.

Bada Duüm’s signature sound has been described as a “heady mix of psychedelic techno, futuristic beats, baile funk, and industrial sounds”. A mainstay of the Colchester experimental music scene, Bada Duüm returns with excellent new music and visuals to Beton Brut.

Kontort completes the line up with a live improvised dark techno set. Combining Dark ambience, lush reverbs and face melting kicks, Kontort hails from the classic era of Techno and brings the music as it always intended – Underground.
